RecME Mission

At RecME, we believe each student - no matter his or her socioeconomic background or education - deserves the opportunity to participate in fun recreational activities. Thanks to your generous donations and the tireless efforts of many, we provide financial assistance for those recreational athletes through sponsorships, scholarships, and opportunities to "pay it forward."

Virginia Miller

Mrs. Mississippi America 2019

RecME Founder and President

Virginia Miller wanted to provide opportunities for all children and teenagers the opportunity to have fun participating in recreational sports as well as the chance to use those experiences to enrich their futures as well as others'. From humble beginnings, Virginia knew early on that she would have to find her own way if she wanted a college education. Thankfully, she was able to participate in recreational activities that allowed her that opportunity. After teaching and coaching for many years, she realized how vital playing rec. was to her. Not only did she learn more than just a love of sports, but she learned the value of teamwork, leadership, and healthy competition, which not only led her to compete in Mrs. Mississippi but also led to the formation of RecME. Besides sponsorships for those in need of assistance (registration fees, sporting gear, etc.), it also provides two scholarships a year - not necessarily for the students with the highest GPA or the ones who receive the athletic scholarships, but for the student who works hard, enjoys participating in recreational sports, and gives of his or her time for others - no matter the socioeconomic background or education. With the help of her board members Chris Bridges, Erica Sutphin, and Millie Cook and in partnership with Carson Risenhoover (Wal-Mart Store Manager), her dream has become a reality for many much like herself.
